Until you make it..

I've never been a fan of this saying, but that's not to say that it does not hold some truth - the idea is simple enough: pretend that you are confident and comfortable doing something you are not really proficient at in front of others until you reach a level of skill and control to actually be good at it.

What sort of culture encourages people to lie, when it would surely make more sense to acknowledge that we're all beginners at anything new until we are not and work with that process openly, allowing others to support us correctly.
